Senator Christopher “Bong” Go’s team visited fire victims in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City, on 26 February to provide assistance following a recent blaze that displaced dozens of residents.

A total of 61 affected individuals gathered at a designated distribution site where Go’s staff handed out grocery packs, water containers, snacks, balls and shirts. Beneficiaries also received financial assistance.

In a video call with the victims, Go reaffirmed his commitment to public service.

The senator also cited Republic Act No. 12076, or the Ligtas Pinoy Centers Act, which he principally authored and co-sponsored. The measure mandates the establishment of disaster-resilient evacuation centers in all cities and municipalities to lessen reliance on makeshift shelters during calamities.

Go likewise highlighted Republic Act No. 11589, or the Bureau of Fire Protection Modernization Act of 2021, which calls for a 10-year modernization plan for the BFP. The law includes provisions for enhanced training, improved equipment, additional personnel and nationwide fire prevention campaigns in coordination with local government units.
