A killer lineup is stepping into the maze. Academy Award nominees Chiwetel Ejiofor and Sentimental Value’s Renate Reinsve lead the descent, joined by Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell, Avan Jogia, Chelah Horsdal, and Toby Hargrave — a cast stacked with prestige gravitas and genre credibility. They topline BACKROOMS, the internet-born nightmare officially landing in Philippine cinemas 3 June 2026 via CreaZion Studios.
Produced by A24 alongside Chernin Entertainment, Atomic Monster, and 21 Laps, the sci-fi horror marks the feature debut of Kane Parsons, the 20-year-old YouTube phenom who turned a lo-fi Creepypasta into a generational obsession.
Parsons’ original Backrooms web series amassed nearly 100 million views and spawned a gaming afterlife across Steam and Roblox. Now, the fluorescent-lit liminal horror gets the full studio treatment.
For CreaZion Studios, BACKROOMS launches its new international slate under the #KwentoMoTo banner, an initiative centered on bringing human stories to Southeast Asian audiences on the big screen. The distributor previously rolled out Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice, A24’s fantasy adventure The Legend of Ochi, and the award-winning body horror The Substance.
