SM Foundation Inc. conducted a series of medical missions in January 2026, serving more than 2,000 beneficiaries in Quezon City and Leyte as part of its ongoing health and medical programs.

The foundation deployed mobile clinics and volunteer teams to provide primary consultations, diagnostic services and free medicines to vulnerable communities with limited access to healthcare facilities.

The first leg was held in Barangay San Vicente, Quezon City, where 289 residents received medical assistance in partnership with the Quezon City local government unit and New Willore Pharma Corp.

SM Foundation then brought its services to the Visayas, conducting three consecutive missions in Leyte.

On 27 January, 654 patients were served at SM Center Ormoc in collaboration with the Ormoc City government and the Ormoc City Medical Society. The following day, 508 beneficiaries in the San Jose District of Tacloban City received care with support from the Tacloban LGU and the local health center. The series concluded on 29 January in Barangay Rizal, Palompon, where 602 residents were assisted in partnership with the Palompon LGU and BDO Network Bank.

Beneficiaries were provided free medical consultations, dental checkups, chest X-rays and electrocardiograms through the SM Foundation mobile clinic. Basic laboratory tests, including glucose, uric acid and cholesterol screening, were also conducted. Medicines and vitamins were distributed under the “Gamot Para sa Kapwa” initiative.

“By bringing these missions directly to the communities, we aim to promote preventive healthcare and alleviate the financial burden on families who have limited access to medical facilities,” said Connie Angeles, SM Foundation executive director for health and medical programs.

Since its inception, the SM Foundation medical mission program has served more than 1.3 million patients nationwide. The initiative complements the foundation’s efforts to rehabilitate and upgrade public health centers to help them meet PhilHealth accreditation standards.
