Nearly 3.4 million pounds of frozen chicken fried rice products sold at Trader Joe's and in Canada have been recalled over possible glass contamination, U.S. Agriculture Department officials said on 19 February.

Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. recalled the products after receiving four consumer complaints about finding glass in the rice. No injuries have been reported.

The two affected products were produced between 8 September 2025 and 17 November 2025. The first, distributed only in Canada, is the Ajinomoto Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-Style Fried Rice, sold in 1.53-kg cardboard packages containing six bags, with Best Before dates from 9 September 2026 to 12 November 2026.

The second, sold at Trader Joe's stores across the United States, is Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice with stir-fried rice, vegetables, seasoned dark chicken meat, and eggs, packaged in 20-ounce plastic bags, with Best By dates from 9 September 2026 to 17 November 2026.

Both products bear the establishment number P-18356 inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service urged consumers and retailers to check their freezers for the recalled products. Anyone in possession of the items should return them to the store or dispose of them.

Consumers concerned about potential injury are advised to contact a healthcare professional.
