Compassion took center stage at the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Hospital in Pampanga as First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos paid a visit that underscored the nation’s quiet debt to its migrant workforce.
Welcomed by Governor Lilia “Baby” Pineda and accompanied by OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne M. Caunan, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac and Nanay Partylist Rep. Florabel Yatco, the First Lady’s visit underscored the continuing efforts to make accessible, quality healthcare more readily available to OFWs and their families.
“At the OFW Hospital in Pampanga, our unsung heroes and their families are given free surgical procedures, medical consultations and optical services,” Mrs. Marcos wrote on her Instagram account.

“When we take care of their health, we help protect their dreams and the families they work so hard for. Thank you, Gov Baby Pineda, Nanay Partylist, DMW and OWWA for your heart and commitment to our OFWs and their loved ones,” she said.
The First Lady’s visit to the hospital in San Fernando kicked off the three-day DMW-OFW Hospital Medical Mission from 18 to 20 February to provide free operations, consultations and optical services for OFWs and their families in collaboration with the Makati Medical Center Foundation.
The OFW Hospital is the country’s first and only hospital that provides comprehensive medical services to OFWs and their dependents.
