Operations at the Puerto Princesa International Airport remain normal and uninterrupted following the fatal shooting of its acting manager earlier this week, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Friday.
CAAP director general Raul del Rosario visited the facility Thursday to confirm that flight schedules, safety procedures, and essential services are continuing without disruption.
The visit follows the death of the acting airport manager, who was shot Wednesday.
CAAP condemned the attack, describing it as a “senseless act of violence” as Del Rosario extended condolences to the victim’s family and pledged the agency’s full support.
“CAAP will provide the necessary support to the family,” Del Rosario said. “We will cooperate with the authorities to resolve the case and seek justice for our colleague.”
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation by local law enforcement.
CAAP officials urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified claims or making assumptions about the incident while the inquiry is ongoing.
The agency called on the appropriate authorities to conduct a thorough and expeditious investigation to ensure those responsible are held accountable.
Despite the tragedy, CAAP stressed its commitment to maintaining the safety and efficiency of Palawan’s primary aviation hub.
