Bank of the Philippine Islands has listed P50 billion worth of social bonds on the Philippine Dealing & Exchange Corp., marking the largest peso-denominated bond issuance in the bank’s history.

The offering, dubbed the BPI Supporting Individuals Grow, Lead, and Achieve or SIGLA Bonds, represents the second tranche of the bank’s P200-billion Bond and Commercial Paper Program approved by its board in October 2024.

Demand for the two-year securities reached 10 times the initial ₱5-billion base offer.

The bonds carry a fixed interest rate of 5.4050 percent per annum, with interest payable quarterly. They have been classified under the ASEAN Social Bond label, a designation affirmed by the Securities and Exchange Commission in December 2025, indicating compliance with regional standards for social finance.

Proceeds from the issuance will be allocated exclusively to eligible social projects under BPI’s Sustainable Funding Framework, in line with the ASEAN Social Bonds Standards.

The bank said the funds will finance or refinance initiatives that deliver measurable social benefits, particularly for underserved communities.

“This issuance represents a significant milestone in our commitment to promoting inclusive growth and empowering underserved sectors across the Philippines,” said Dino Gasmen, BPI treasurer and head of Global Markets. “We are deeply grateful for the trust placed in us and excited to channel the proceeds toward initiatives that generate positive social impact.”

The listing forms part of BPI’s broader environmental, social and governance strategy as it expands funding channels for projects aimed at inclusive and equitable development.

“Through the BPI SIGLA Bonds, BPI continues to reinforce its leadership in sustainable finance,” Gasmen added. “We remain firmly committed to developing innovative financial instruments that support the country’s sustainable development goals while delivering long-term value to our investors.”
