AFC Season 25 kicking off soon

DAVAO CITY — Some 100 teams from all over Mindanao are expected to show their wares in the 25th season of the Aboitiz Football Cup (AFC) that grabs the spotlight on 28 February and 1 March at the Tionko Football grounds.

“Since its inception, the tournament has engaged more than 2,000 teams and over 50,000 players nationwide, making it one of the country’s most impactful grassroots football programs,” said Enric Zak Tia, President and Chief Executive Officer of Davao Light and Power Company during its launching on Friday.

The launch of the Aboitiz Football Cup’s 25 anniversary highlighted the MOA signing between the different support groups involved in the annual bootfest led by Davao South Regional Football Association president Ernie Ortonio Jr., Welfredo Dalumpines of the Impact Load Climate Action of the Aboitiz Foundation Inc., organizer Liza Kriztel Dureza-Valencia of CR7 Foodtruck and tournament director Arman Valencia of CR7 Foodtruck. 

Thirteen age group categories including the Under 16 and 18 will be featured in this year’s AFC Season 25.
