Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval led the distribution of emergency relief Tuesday to 68 families displaced by a residential fire on Mabolo Street in Barangay Maysilo.

The blaze, which broke out at 3:13 a.m. Tuesday, affected 232 individuals from Barangays Maysilo and Santulan. Firefighters declared the fire under control at 4:24 a.m. and fully extinguished it by 4:59 a.m., according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.

“We feel the weight caused by this unexpected event,” Sandoval said. “We ensured that initial aid from the city government was distributed immediately. May this help with your needs while you stay at the evacuation center.”

The local government has established temporary shelter at the Catmon Evacuation Center using modular tents. Alongside the City Social Welfare and Development Department, Sandoval distributed food packs containing rice and canned goods, as well as hygiene and sleeping kits.

City administrator Alexander Rosete said Malabon is prepared for such disasters and pledged that the city would listen to and address the residents’ grievances during the recovery process.
