Power users can expect more reliable, safer, and more interactive service as the Razon-led Primelectric Holdings, Inc.—parent of MORE Power, Negros Power, and Bohol Light—moves to modernize its distribution systems using global technology.
Primelectric President and CEO Roel Z. Castro said on Monday the company is set to apply lessons from the recent U.S. Distribution Technology Conference and Exhibit (DTECH) to its operations.
According to Castro, distributed energy resources such as solar panels, battery storage, and electric vehicles allow consumers to feed power back to the grid, but integrating them safely requires advanced monitoring and smart systems.
“The energy landscape is changing. By learning early and adapting thoughtfully, we can ensure that our customers benefit from new technologies without compromising the quality of service they expect,” Castro said.
“New technologies must help us detect problems earlier, respond faster, and protect both our workers and our customers,” he added.
Castro also called for policies that keep pace with technological change, stressing that innovation must be grounded in technical realities and aligned with consumer protection.
He said the shift is changing how utilities approach pricing, billing, and customer engagement, moving beyond the traditional sale of electricity toward enabling broader participation and value creation.
As such, he cited the need for collaboration, citing continuous learning, pilot projects, and shared experiences as critical to modernizing power systems responsibly.
