PLDT remains in good hands with prolific scorer Savi Davison leading the charge.

Flexing her firepower, Davison anchored the High Speed Hitters’ impressive campaign opener by crushing no less than traditional powerhouse and now complete Creamline in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference.

The Filipino-Canadian submitted a triple-double in a spectacular performance, enough to earn the distinction as the first recipient of the season-ending PVL Press Corps Player of the Week presented by Pilipinas Live for the period of 31 January to 7 February.

While the rest of the field engaged in an arms race during the offseason, the High Speed Hitters put a premium on familiarity and chemistry.

It paid dividends as Davison played sweet music with the rest of her PLDT teammates to sweep the Cool Smashers, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23, last Thursday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Dropping 26 points from 23 kills and three kill blocks, on top of 11 digs and 10 excellent receptions, Davison’s performance highlighted the two-time champion club’s statement victory over the 10-time titlists.

Davison admitted that taking on a Creamline squad that welcomed the return of Jia de Guzman and Bernadeth Pons from their respective national team duties, and Jema Galanza from a foot injury, to join Alyssa Valdez, Tots Carlos and Michele Gumabao was overwhelming.

But Davison was not the one to back down from a challenge.

“I’ve been working a lot on patience and waiting all week, and not trying to come out strong because Creamline and their fans, they can make it a really hard environment to play in. I’m just glad that we were able to keep calm and stick to our 80 percent throughout the match,” Davison said.
