President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. branded the recently dismissed impeachment complaint against him as a hindrance to his ability to do his job.

“I’m glad the impeachment complaint against me has been finished. And as the statement that we’ve made earlier, I’m happy with that, and we can get on with our work because these things are distractions from the things that we are doing,” said the President during an ambush interview during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila-College of Allied Health Sciences Building in Manila on Friday.

The two impeachment complaints against the Chief Executive were shot down by the House Committee on Justice on Wednesday, as insufficient in substance.

“I wasn’t very worried because I saw the impeachment complaint, and I knew that I would be alright in terms of the proceedings. There were no real grounds for the impeachment. It’s a political move, as usual,” he said.

Not on Sara’s complaint

The President, however, did not apply the same analysis on the impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte, saying he would not react.

The complaint against Duterte was already transmitted to Speaker Bojie Dy on 5 February, as House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil revealed on Friday.
