Manalo elected as new ABAP chief

The Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) elected Marcus Manalo as its new president on Wednesday.

Manalo was a secretary general from 2021 to 2025 and served as a sports psychologist to the national boxing team since 2013.

Philippine Aquatics Inc. chief Miko Vargas will aide Manalo in his post as the new vice president.

Former ABAP president Roberto Puno was elected as chairman while Atty. Raul Daza as vice chairman.

Two-time Olympic medalist Nesthy Petecio joins the ABAP board along with Atty. Arnel Casanova, Atty. Emilio Jose Abelita Jr., Atty. Oscar Moreno, Reinaldo Bautista Jr., Mark Burgos and Gilas Pilipinas team manager Alfrancis Chua.

Los Angeles Olympics chief of mission Ricky Vargas was elected as honorary chairman.
