Police arrested Metro Manila’s most wanted fugitive Sunday morning in a joint operation targeting a suspect accused of murder.

The 41-year-old male, whose name was withheld by authorities, was apprehended at approximately 10:55 a.m. along Libis Espina in Barangay 18.

He was listed as the No. 1 regional most wanted person by the National Capital Region Police Office for February 2026.

The arrest was carried out by the Northern Police District’s (NPD) Special Operation Unit and the Malabon City Police.

Authorities said that the suspect was wanted on a no-bail warrant issued by Malabon Regional Trial Court Branch 293 for murder under the Revised Penal Code.

NPD acting director Brig. Gen. Christopher R. dela Cruz said the arrest followed “extensive intelligence gathering, research, and surveillance.”

Officers utilized an alternative recording device during the service of the warrant, a standard procedure intended to ensure transparency during high-stakes arrests.

Police said the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights but chose to remain silent.

Following his arrest, the suspect underwent a medical examination at a Caloocan hospital before being transported to the Northern Police District Custodial Facility Unit.

He remains in detention pending formal notification to the issuing court.

Dela Cruz commended the arresting team, stating the operation aligns with the Philippine National Police’s “F.I.G.H.T. C.R.I.M.E.S.” framework, which prioritizes capacity building and integrity in law enforcement.
