The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has directed its regional offices to coordinate with the National Housing Authority (NHA) and other concerned agencies in the implementation of construction activities for housing projects for informal settlers.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said the coordination is crucial as the agency eyes the construction of P1.8 billion worth of housing projects in several parts of the country.
The multi-billion peso housing initiative covers resettlement projects for informal settler families in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, and Central Luzon this year.
Under a 22 Jan. order, DPWH regional offices were tasked to oversee the implementation of the comprehensive and integrated housing program (CIHP) and the resettlement program for informal settlers of the NHA, with funding sourced from the General Appropriations Act of 2025.
Three of the seven projects will be overseen by the DPWH Metro Manila office, with a combined budget of P700 million. These include the CIHP in San Juan worth P300 million, the CIHP in Manila worth P200 million, and the CIHP in Navotas worth P200 million.
The DPWH Calabarzon regional office will supervise the construction of a multi-purpose building for the CIHP in Rosario, Batangas, with a budget of P300 million. It will also oversee another multi-purpose building for the resettlement program in Naic, Cavite worth P300 million, and a separate project in Bacoor City with a P200-million budget.
In Central Luzon, the DPWH will supervise the construction of a P300-million multi-purpose building for the resettlement program in San Ildefonso, Bulacan.
