Bacoor City Mayor Strike Revilla addressed social media allegations of overpricing, clarifying that a P9.8 million solar-powered multi-purpose project remains unfinished due to a conflict with national infrastructure works.
Photos of the small structure in a local barangay recently went viral on Facebook, with netizens questioning the budget and alleging irregularities. In a Facebook Live broadcast, Revilla told residents the images circulating online do not represent the final product.
“The solar-powered multi-purpose project being circulated online is not yet finished,” Revilla said. “I decided to explain this so our netizens can be properly informed.”
The mayor explained that construction was temporarily halted because the Department of Public Works and Highways began a separate national project at the same site. Revilla said the local government was required to pause its work until the DPWH completes its phase.
Once the national project is finished, Revilla said the city will resume construction to complete the facility for the residents.
While the project faced criticism from online observers, local supporters of the administration defended the mayor’s record on public service and infrastructure during the broadcast.
