An action-packed Valentine’s Day awaits University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) fans as the much-awaited Season 88 volleyball tournament opens hostilities next month.
The clash between last year’s runner-up, De La Salle University, and Far Eastern University highlights the women’s competition on the opening weekend at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Game time is at 3 p.m. after the 1 p.m. encounter between University of the Philippines and University of the East.
Coincidentally, the most recent Valentine’s Day match in 2018 also featured the Lady Spikers and the Lady Tamaraws, with the Taft-based side prevailing in five sets over their Morayta rivals.
Opening the February 14 playdate is the men’s division match between the Fighting Maroons and the Red Warriors at 9 a.m. Squaring off at 11 a.m. are the Tamaraws and Green Spikers.
Meanwhile, three-peat-seeking National University begins its post-Bella Belen era campaign against University of Santo Tomas on 15 February at the same venue.
The protagonists in the Season 86 finals meet at 3 p.m. after Adamson University and Ateneo De Manila University battle at 1 p.m.
In the men’s side, the Falcons and Blue Eagles duke it out at 9 a.m. followed by the 11 a.m. match between six-peat-seeking Bulldogs and the Golden Spikers.
