The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has reinforced its commitment to community healthcare by providing medical assistance to local government units in Nueva Ecija and Laguna.
PCSO assistant general manager Lauro Patiag, representing general manager Melquiades A. Robles, led the turnover of nearly P90,000 worth of medicines at the agency’s Conservatory Building.
Jaen, Nueva Ecija, received roughly P60,000 in various medications. Mayor Silvester Austria accepted the donation, which is earmarked for the municipality’s upcoming medical missions and community health programs.
Barangay Lamot 2 in Calauan, Laguna, was granted P30,000 worth of medical supplies. The donation was received by Aileen Grace Papin on behalf of local officials.
The PCSO said the initiative is part of a broader effort to partner with local governments to provide healthcare access to residents with limited resources. The medicines were transported immediately following the ceremony to ensure they were available for scheduled community outreach activities.
In a separate development, the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor recognized Robles as a “Champion of the Urban Poor.” During a visit to the PCSO headquarters, commission officials cited Robles’ leadership in expanding social and medical assistance to marginalized sectors.
The recognition, originally announced during Urban Poor Solidarity Week, highlights the agency’s role in the government’s social protection agenda.
Meantime, the PCSO also announced that a winner has come forward to claim the P15.84-million jackpot from the 15 January SuperLotto 6/49 draw.
The winner, an employee who had only played the lottery four times, selected the winning combination — 14-24-10-05-15-11 — using family birthdates. She claimed the prize at the PCSO Main Office accompanied by her aunt.
