Fugitive former congressman Zaldy Co is sending feelers for possible dialogue with government authorities, Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla said Wednesday.
In an ambush interview at Camp Crame, Remulla said Co conveyed his intent through religious leaders close to him.
“Meron na siyang (Co) feelers..na through sa mga ibang pari na kilala niya,” Remulla said.
However, Remulla clarified that the move does not necessarily mean Co is preparing to surrender.
“Not exactly (surrender feelers). Parang nagpapa-connect na gusto ng dialogue sa atin,” he explained.
The Interior secretary said the information has yet to be verified.
“But of course it’s not yet verified. Parang nagsabi pa lang. Sinabi ng kaibigan ng kaibigan na pinaparating,” Remulla added.
Despite this, Remulla said the government is taking the matter seriously.
“Siyempre, we take that seriously. Yung gustong makipag-dialogue. Kakausapin namin ’yan,” he said.
Co, a former lawmaker, has been linked to alleged anomalies in flood control projects and remains at large.
