Junior Altas post win No. 2

University of Perpetual Help System Dalta waged a sizzling rally to overcome San Beda University, 25-17, 26-24, 25-22 for its second straight win in Season 101 National Collegiate Athletic Association volleyball fiesta boys’ division on Wednesday at the Arellano University gym.

The Junior Altas Spikers were trailing 4-9 in the third set, but they refused to give up as they tightened their defensive screws until forging a 22-all tie in the crucial stretch.

Then, they drilled in three attacks points to seal the victory in one hour and 18 minutes.

Rookie Daryll Torio was at his best, notching 16 attack points laced with eight digs to emerge as best scorer while Gabriel Macatuno contributed 11 points and John Lat with nine points built on six attacks, two blocks and an ace for the reigning champion.

Libero JM Regorosa did a solid job manning the floor as he recorded 29 excellent receptions and five digs while setters Mark Gale and Donald Sison recorded 45 and 27 excellent sets, respectively.

CJ Abling fired 14 points and Khylle Claro added 13 points for San Beda, which suffered its second consecutive loss.

On the other hand, Letran College and Mapua University also coasted to their second wins after pulling off a 25-20, 25-21, 25-15 win over La Salle Greenhills and 25-19, 25-17, 25-22 triumph over San Sebastian College, respectively.
