Former senator Bong Revilla Jr. surrendered Monday night to the Philippine National Police, following the Sandiganbayan’s issuance of an arrest warrant and hold departure order (HDO), officials said.
Though the PNP kept his arrival under wraps, sources at Camp Crame said Revilla was accompanied by his wife, Cavite Representative Lani Mercado-Revilla.
The anti-graft court’s Third Division issued the warrant and HDO against Revilla and co-accused Department of Public Works and Highways officials over a P92.8 million “anomalous” flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.
The Office of the Ombudsman filed non-bailable charges of malversation of public funds.
Sources said Revilla will be detained during the trial.
