President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was slapped with an impeachment complaint on Monday at the House of Representatives over alleged graft and corruption, culpable violation of the Constitution, and betrayal of public trust.
Pusong Pinoy party-list Rep. Jett Nisay endorsed the complaint.
Earlier, Senior House Deputy Minority Leader and Caloocan 2nd District Rep. Edgar Erice said some groups had approached him to ask whether he would endorse the impeachment complaint against President Marcos.
Erice said the groups were not composed of members of Congress, adding that he declined the offer, citing new Supreme Court rules requiring impeachment complaints to pass through the House Committee on Justice.
The lawmaker said he wants to remain open-minded based on what will be presented once the House panel takes up the impeachment complaint and any possible new complaint that may be filed against President Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte, respectively.
