Some P43.7 million worth of alleged substandard appliances were seized by authorities during an operation in two warehouses at Narra Street, Barangay Taal, Bocaue, Bulacan, on 14 January 2026.

According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the CIDG Bulacan Provincial Field Unit and territorial police units implemented a search warrant that also resulted in the arrest of five suspects, including one male Chinese national, as well as the confiscation of 12,000 boxes of alleged substandard appliances.

The search warrant was issued for violation of Article 77 (Minimum Labeling Requirements for Consumer Products) of Republic Act No. 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines).

A report to Police Maj. Gen. Robert AA Morico II, Director of CIDG, stated that the five arrested suspects — “Yibian,” male, Chinese national and warehouse manager; and “Jonalyn, Arjelyn, Josias, and Generose,” employees, all of legal age and residents of Bulacan — were caught while in possession and control of the appliances.

The said appliances were lacking minimum DTI labeling requirements, a violation of the Consumer Act of the Philippines.

Authorities seized 12,000 boxes of TIXX-branded home appliances, including stoves, air fryers, water dispensers, heaters, vacuum cleaners, and air coolers, with an estimated value of P43,733,700.

Morico II emphasized that it is the policy of the State to protect the interests of consumers, promote their general welfare, and establish standards of conduct for business and industry.

The CIDG’s intensified operations are in compliance with the focused program thrust of Philippine National Police Chief P/Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.

The CIDG leadership lauded PCol. Grant A. Gollod, Regional Chief of CIDG Regional Field Unit 3, and the CIDG Bulacan Field Unit led by its Provincial Chief, PLtCol. Al-Rieza S. Kinang, for the accomplishment. The crackdown safeguards consumers from potential safety risks posed by the alleged substandard products.

The CIDG assures the public that the unit is resolute in implementing all laws and unrelenting in its fight against criminalities. It urged the public to report all illegal activities in their localities to the CIDG, which will take appropriate action.
