The Malabon City government has ordered the temporary closure of a warehouse facility operated by Tala Cargo Solution in Barangay Maysilo for failure to comply with business permit and regulatory requirements.
The order came after the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group discovered and seized about P1.5 billion worth of unregistered imported tobacco products at the container yard on 31 December 2025.
The Bureau of Customs later confirmed the seizure, and the area was secured for further investigation by authorities.
In response, the city government conducted inspections through the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO). A notice of violation was issued, requiring the company to submit within three working days all necessary permits, certifications, and authorizations for its operations.
Despite the issuance of a final notice warning of closure if compliance was not met by 13 January 2026, the company failed to fully submit the required documents.
As a result, the BPLO issued a cease and desist order, enforcing the temporary closure of the facility until full compliance is achieved and proper clearance is issued by the concerned office.
“The Malabon City government ensures that all laws and ordinances are strictly enforced. We are doing what is necessary on the part of the local government, in accordance with legal and proper processes. We will not ignore any violation, and every business has a clear responsibility to comply with the rules,” Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.
