A woman died while four others were injured after a tanker collided with a car along Roman Highway in Barangay Puting Buhangin, Orion, Bataan, on 16 January 2026.

Police said the fatality was a 48-year-old passenger in a Honda Civic that crashed into a trailer tanker carrying fuel.

The car was driven by Amado Ison Fulgencio, 37, of Mariveles, Bataan, and was carrying three other passengers, including the woman who died.

Initial reports said both vehicles were traveling along Roman Highway, with the tanker heading toward Balanga City while the car was bound for Mariveles, when the Honda Civic allegedly encroached into the tanker’s lane, resulting in a collision.

Authorities said the impact caused sparks that ignited the tanker’s cargo of around 24,000 liters of diesel and 6,000 liters of gasoline, triggering a fire that engulfed the tanker and spilled fuel along portions of the highway.

The car’s passengers were rushed to Bataan General Hospital, where the woman was later declared dead. The other victims remain under medical treatment, while the tanker driver sustained minor injuries.

Firefighters from the Orion and Limay fire stations responded and extinguished the fire at around 6:15 p.m.
