Airport police arrested a 46-year-old man Thursday for allegedly stealing a mobile phone from a charging station at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3.
The theft occurred Wednesday afternoon in the terminal lobby, according to the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group.
The victim, a 20-year-old inspector for a ride-hailing company, told authorities he realized the phone was missing when it abruptly stopped playing music. Upon checking the station, he found the device had been unplugged and taken.
Airport police said the suspect attempted to evade officers by blending into a crowd of arriving passengers.
Investigators identified the man after reviewing CCTV footage, which showed him taking the phone. Police confirmed the suspect appeared to be acting alone.
