The Philippines’ first storm for 2026 has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
According to the 8 a.m. bulletin of the state weather bureau PAG-ASA on Wednesday, a low-pressure area inside the PAR has developed into a tropical depression named Ada.
Ada is expected to bring scattered rains over the Davao Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and Bukidnon.
As of PAG-ASA’s latest update, the tropical depression was located 740 kilometers east of Davao International Airport in Davao City. It is moving northwestward at 35 kilometers per hour, with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 55 kilometers per hour.
PAG-ASA said the cyclone is forecast to continue moving northwestward and may make landfall over Eastern Visayas and the Bicol Region between Friday and Saturday.
The next cyclone bulletin will be issued by PAG-ASA at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
