Honda Philippines Inc. stepped back into the classroom this week, this time not to talk about cars or motorcycles, but about staying safe on the road.
At Don Bosco Elementary School and Don Bosco National High School in Parañaque, Honda, through the Honda Safety Driving Center, ran its Kids on Safety and Students on Safety programs, reaching both grade school pupils and senior high learners in a single day of activities.
School officials and Honda representatives gathered at the Don Bosco Elementary School basketball court for a short ceremony to mark the continuing partnership.
A certificate of appreciation was handed to Honda in recognition of its ongoing support for road safety education among students.
Present during the event were Honda Safety Driving Center department manager Raymund Cristobal, along with other managers and supervisors, and officials from the school.
The morning session focused on the Kids on Safety program, which is designed for younger students. Instead of lectures, the session relied on simple explanations, short videos, and hands-on activities that matched the attention span of children.
Students were introduced to basic pedestrian rules, common traffic signs, and everyday habits that help keep them safe when walking or riding. Instructors also stressed the importance of wearing helmets and protective gear, even at a young age.
After watching a road safety film and joining an open discussion, the children took part in a Push Bike Mini Skills Challenge. Wearing helmets, elbow pads, and knee pads, they navigated a small course that allowed them to apply what they had just learned.
By midday, the focus shifted to older students. The Students on Safety session gathered around 180 senior high school learners at Don Bosco National High School, Parañaque.
The topic felt closer to home, with some already commuting on their own or preparing to drive in the near future.
The seminar covered proper road behavior, motorcycle safety, traffic signs, pedestrian discipline, and defensive driving principles.
Discussions were framed around real-life situations students might face as commuters, passengers, or future drivers.
Teachers noted the strong participation from students, many of whom asked questions and shared their own experiences during the discussion.
A group photo at the end of the session captured students, faculty members, and Honda representatives together, marking the close of the day’s activities.
Through programs like Kids on Safety and Students on Safety, Honda continues to push its road safety advocacy beyond training centers and into schools.
The company has long maintained that safe road habits are best learned early and reinforced as children grow older.
The sessions added practical lessons that students can carry beyond the school gates. The activity also marked another step by Honda in keeping road safety part of everyday life, not just for drivers but for everyone who shares the road.
