First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos marked her return to work in 2026 by meeting with officials tasked with rehabilitating the Pasig River.

At a large gathering in Intramuros, Manila, Mrs. Marcos discussed the enduring legacy of one of the country’s main waterways, which is undergoing enhancements to benefit Filipinos and tourists.

“Same time last year: the Pasig River Esplanade,” she said.

The First Lady highlighted the meeting’s discussion of the details, which focused on the history of the Pasig River.

“We discussed the details. Extensively. Now, we’re discussing the small things. Again,” she said.

It will come

As progress on the scenic waterway continues, the First Lady asked for patience.

“Progress is happening. We just have to be patient. Very patient,” she said. “Can’t wait to see it come alive.”

In December, Mrs. Marcos teased a major announcement for the Pasig River Esplanade, slated to launch at the end of January.

Currently, the esplanade boasts food and retail choices, complementing its vision as a place where people can gather.

Mrs. Marcos asked the over 10,000 visitors to the esplanade to keep the surroundings clean and observe proper waste disposal.
