Authorities have seized P36,958,500 worth of illegal cigarettes from a warehouse in San Simon, Pampanga, from January 7 to 8, 2026.
According to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), the CIDG Regional Field Unit 3, led by Police Col. Grant A. Gollod, successfully conducted Oplan Megashopper along with partner law enforcement units.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 573 master cases of illegal cigarettes worth P36,958,500.00.
The operation was carried out pursuant to a court-issued search warrant for violations of the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
Investigations revealed that the warehouse was allegedly used as a storage and distribution hub for smuggled tobacco products.
"This successful operation sends a strong message that CIDG will relentlessly pursue individuals and groups involved in illegal trade and economic sabotage, in full support of the rule of law and consumer protection," Gollod said.
