The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has released P1.4 million in grants to two social welfare organizations to bolster programs for vulnerable sectors in Mindanao and Batangas.
The funding was distributed through the agency’s Institutional Partnership Program, which redirects proceeds from gaming operations to civil society groups.
In South Cotabato, the agency turned over a P900,000 grant to Life Home Mindanao Inc. during a ceremony at the PCSO branch office on 4 December. Alicia Saavedra, a PCSO cashier, presented the check to Josephine De Vila, the organization’s executive director.
The Mindanao-based institution plans to use the funds to sustain operations and expand social welfare services for marginalized communities.
In a separate turnover on 15 December last year, the PCSO provided P500,000 to the Lingap Pangarap ng Mga Paslit Center Inc. at the agency’s Batangas branch. Branch head Brenda de Guzman presented the grant to Andrea Lontoc, the center’s president.
The Batangas-based organization, which was recently welcomed as a formal IPP partner, provides specialized services for children. Officials said the grant will support the center’s “Care Meals on Wheels” program.
The mobile food initiative delivers meals to caregivers at the Batangas Medical Center, inmates at the Batangas City Jail, workers at the local fish port and selected schoolchildren across the province.
The PCSO stated that these partnerships are part of its national mandate to ensure that gaming revenues provide direct assistance to marginalized groups and strengthen the delivery of social services.
