Residents and visitors in Alegria, Cebu are being urged to stay alert as the breeding season of the king cobra has begun, local disaster officials warned on Sunday.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said the snakes are more likely to be encountered during this period, especially by people camping, hiking, or passing through forested areas. Extra caution is advised in places with bamboo groves, tall grass, and thick leaf litter where cobras may hide.
Authorities stressed that safety should come first. Anyone who encounters a king cobra is advised to keep a safe distance and immediately leave the area.
