Controversial and jailed contractor Sarah Discaya will have her first day in court on Monday in Lapu-Lapu City, where beefed-up security will be deployed at the Female Jail Dormitory.
Her legal proceedings would center on their motion to “quash” the warrant of arrest filed last month and an omnibus motion to “quash information,” including that of her co-accused, most of whom are officials of the Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) and officials of Discaya’s construction firm.
Discaya will be brought to the Lapu-Lapu City Regional Trial Court Branch 27 to hear the court’s decision on their motion, including her motion to remain in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation.
Her arraignment on her malversation of public funds and graft cases is scheduled on 13 January.
Safekeeping measures?
“The BJMP, since the arrival of Discaya in the facility, has put in place appropriate security measures for her safekeeping,” Jail Chief Inspector Ivy Christine Manigos, warden of the female dormitory, said.
She added that security protocols have been implemented to ensure Discaya’s safe transit to the hearing.
