China Changan Automobile Group reached a major production milestone this month after its 30 millionth vehicle left the assembly line in Chongqing. The unit was an AVATR 12 Quad-Laser Edition produced at the AVATR Digital Intelligence Factory.
The milestone comes as China Changan Automobile Group continues to expand beyond traditional vehicle manufacturing. The company now places a strong focus on electrification, software development, and intelligent vehicle systems.
The 30 millionth vehicle came from AVATR, a premium electric brand backed by Changan. AVATR operates under a technology-led strategy that combines electric platforms, advanced sensors, and connected systems.
Changan also operates a State Key Laboratory of Intelligent Vehicle Safety Technology. The facility supports research on active safety systems that intervene before accidents occur. These include driver assistance features and system monitoring tools.
In recent years, the company introduced SDA Intelligence, a system that combines physical safety, digital security, and data protection. The system addresses risks linked to connected vehicles, including data integrity and software reliability.
Technology development at Changan follows two main directions. One centers on electrification and energy management. The other focuses on vehicle intelligence and automation.
Changan developed the Golden Shield Battery system, which aims to improve protection during charging, driving, and collisions. The company also worked on high-frequency pulse heating to support electric vehicle operation in low-temperature conditions.
Changan continues to produce internal combustion and hybrid vehicles alongside battery electric models. Its BlueCore 3.0 powertrain platform supports hybrid and gasoline engines designed to balance output and fuel efficiency.
These systems appear across different segments of the lineup, from entry-level vehicles to higher-end electric models. Changan said this approach allows flexibility as markets move at different speeds toward electrification.
Looking ahead, the company set targets through 2030 as it aims to rank among the world’s top 10 automotive brands by total sales. Annual volume is expected to reach five million vehicles.
