The total number of road crash injuries recorded by the Department of Health (DOH) from 21 December to 2 January, has reached 1,113.
This is almost 82 percent higher than the same period last year.
Fivehundred eight cases or almost 50 percent involved young people aged 15 to 29 years old.
Meanwhile, 965 or almost 87 percent did not use safety accessories such as helmets and seatbelts.
Four out of 7 people who died in separate incidents were aged 26-16 or young people and six of them involved motorcycles, including a pedestrian.
To prevent road crashes, the DOH advised the public to wear a Department of Trade and Industry-approved helmet for motorcycle riders and a seatbelt for those driving a four-wheel vehicle.
It also reminded them to avoid driving when exhausted or drunk; follow the speed limit and road signs; and make sure to have seven to eight hours of sleep before driving.
