Senator Christopher “Bong” Go received the Dakilang Lahi Filipino Award for Excellence in Public Service and Humanitarian Leadership of the Year 2025 during a ceremony held recently in Quezon City.
The award, presented by Dakilang Lahi Filipino Awards CEO Ma. Lourdes Meñez, is given to individuals cited for integrity, leadership, and contributions to public service.
In a video message, Go thanked the awarding body and said the recognition underscored the responsibilities attached to public office.
“I am grateful to the Dakilang Lahi Filipino Awards for this recognition. I accept the Excellence in Public Service and Humanitarian Leadership award not as a personal achievement, but as a reminder of the greater responsibility that comes with being a public servant,” he said.
Go said public service, regardless of scale, could bring positive change to people’s lives. He added that the recognition encouraged him to continue his work in government.
He currently chairs the Senate Committees on Youth and Sports. He is the author and co-sponsor of Republic Act 11470, which established the National Academy of Sports in New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac. The academy integrates secondary education with sports training.
In the 20th Congress, Go filed Senate Bill 171, which seeks to regionalize the academy, Senate Bill 413 to institutionalize the Philippine National Games, and Senate Bill 678, which proposes the creation of a National Tertiary Games.
Go also served as chair and now vice chair of the Senate Committee on Health. He authored Republic Act 11463, which institutionalized Malasakit Centers, described as one-stop facilities for medical assistance.
