The Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Executive Committee has moved to dispel circulating claims about this year’s box office standings, calling the unofficial rankings spreading on social media misleading and inaccurate.
In a statement released on December 29, the MMFF ExeComm emphasized that it deliberately withholds official box office figures and film rankings during the festival run. According to the committee, this policy is part of its agreement with producers and is meant to prevent a “bandwagon effect” that could unfairly influence audience choices and cinema performance while the festival is ongoing.
Rather than focusing on numbers, the MMFF leadership reiterated its call for audiences to support the entire lineup of films. With the holiday season still in full swing, the committee encouraged moviegoers to head to cinemas, experience the diversity of stories on offer, and show continued support for the local film industry as a whole.
The 2025 MMFF features eight official entries: I’m Perfect, UnMarry, Call Me Mother, Manila’s Finest, Love You So Bad, Shake, Rattle & Roll: Evil Origins, Bar Boys: After School, and Rekonek. All films are currently screening nationwide and are scheduled to remain in cinemas until January 2026.
