The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) arrested two men in Payatas, Quezon City, in connection with a Christmas Day assault that led to charges of attempted murder, obstruction of justice, and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority.
QCPD acting director P/Col. Randy Glenn Silvio said alias “Andrew,” 37, was arrested for attempted murder, while alias “Angelo,” 38, was taken into custody for obstruction of justice and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority. Both are residents of Payatas B.
The arrests stemmed from a follow-up operation conducted by the Payatas – Bagong Silangan Police Station (PS 13) under P/Lt. Col. Rowena Amata.
According to the PS 13 report, the incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on 25 December 2025. The victim was sleeping in front of his house while intoxicated when he was suddenly struck on the head with a liquor bottle by Andrew, causing him to wake up. The victim then saw Andrew holding a broken bottle and was hit again.
Despite sustaining a head injury, the victim managed to shout for help, prompting the suspect to flee.
The victim reported the incident to a nearby police outpost and was assisted by Barangay Payatas officials, who brought him to the East Avenue Medical Center for medical treatment.
After receiving care, the victim accompanied PS 13 operatives to the suspect’s residence for a follow-up operation. Upon arrival, the victim positively identified Andrew, who immediately entered his house upon seeing the police officers.
Police said Andrew’s brother, Angelo, then shouted at him in Filipino, urging him to flee, and verbally confronted the officers. Angelo allegedly blocked the approaching officers, allowing Andrew to evade immediate arrest.
Angelo was arrested at the scene for obstruction of justice and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority. Andrew was later arrested at around 4 p.m. the same day at his residence.
Andrew was charged with attempted murder. Angelo faces charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1829, or obstruction of justice, and Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code, or disobedience to an agent of a person in authority.
