Police arrested a 24-year-old security guard Christmas morning after he allegedly shot and killed two colleagues following a holiday drinking session at a local car dealership.
The suspect, identified by Quezon City Police District (QCPD) acting director Col. Randy Glenn Silvio as alias “Charren,” was apprehended at 9:15 a.m. Thursday in Tondo, Manila.
The shooting occurred at a dealership along Commonwealth Avenue in Barangay North Fairview. According to Lt. Col. Roldante Sarmiento, commander of QCPD Station 5, the three guards had been drinking inside the establishment beginning around 1 p.m. Wednesday.
A sales executive told investigators he was preparing to leave when the suspect approached him and expressed an intent to kill the other two guards, claiming they had been bullying him.
The witness reported hearing two gunshots shortly after the suspect walked toward the service lounge.
Reports said that the victims were found dead on a sofa with gunshot wounds to the head and throat. Police said they were likely asleep when they were attacked.
The suspect fled the scene on foot before boarding a taxi. QCPD operatives, in coordination with the Manila Police District, tracked him to a compound on Mayhaligue Street in Tondo.
Authorities recovered a 9mm Rock Island pistol, ammunition, and various items belonging to the victims, including two cellular phones.
Silvio said the suspect will face two counts of murder and robbery charges before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
“This successful operation demonstrates that even during the holiday season, the QCPD remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring justice,” Silvio said.
