Bureau of Customs (BoC) agents seized more than P21.4 million worth of suspected shabu and high-grade marijuana found hidden in unclaimed parcels at a mail facility near the capital’s main airport.

The illegal drugs were discovered 15 December inside five inbound packages at the Central Mail Exchange Center. Customs officials said the parcels were falsely declared as consumer items, including a book, an outdoor wall lamp, a bag, and digital media discs.

A physical inspection of the suspicious packages yielded 2,928 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P19.9 million. Agents also found 997 grams of high-grade marijuana, or “kush,” with an estimated street value of P1.5 million.

“These interceptions reflect the bureau’s sustained efforts to detect and prevent the entry of illegal drugs through postal and courier channels,” Customs commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said. “We remain resolute in protecting our borders and the welfare of the public.
