Filipino world champion Pedro Taduran could only shake his head and laugh as he patiently waits for official word about his next fight.

Taduran, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight titleholder, has decided to assume a different outlook on things that he can’t control.

The volume-punching southpaw is giving a comedic twist to his current predicament.

While he is showing up for afternoon workouts at the Elorde Sports Center in Parañaque, Taduran doesn’t know if it would eventually lead to a much-coveted shot at Oscar Collazo’s multiple world title straps.

The undefeated Puerto Rican holds the World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Organization (WBO) 105-pound belts while also being recognized as The Ring magazine champion in the division.

“I don’t know with him. I just wish that he tells us about his plans,” Taduran told DAILY TRIBUNE.

So that he doesn’t get caught with his pants down, Taduran trains daily as though a fight is on the horizon.

Reports have it that Collazo is being targeted to return to the ring again sometime in February and that a unification bout is what his heart desires at this point given his dream of becoming Puerto Rico’s first undisputed champion.

Like Taduran, Collazo is in training mode as well and is in an even far more advanced stage in training in his native Puerto Rico.

In a recent post on social media, Collazo could even be seen sparring and doing some heavy stuff.

On one post, Collazo said: Cuando ustedes están durmiendo, yo estoy trabajando (While you are all sleeping, I am working/training).

The post included a video of himself doing road work early in the morning.

Intrigued and also quite alarmed by Collazo’s frequent postings, Taduran has placed himself on red alert.

“Got to be ready and prepared all the time,” said Taduran, who is also aiming to unify and become the first undisputed champion from the Philippines.

And this strictly means business.
