The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a high-value drug suspect and seized approximately 900 grams of suspected shabu worth about P6.12 million during a buy-bust operation over the weekend in Barangay Bongco, Pototan, Iloilo.
The operation on 20 December was conducted by personnel from the Pototan Municipal Police Station, the Police Intelligence Unit, and the Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office. Authorities identified the suspect as a Filipino male classified as a high-value individual in the illegal drug trade.
Recovered during the operation were the suspected shabu, buy-bust money and other evidence, all of which are now in the custody of the Pototan MPS for proper documentation and legal proceedings.
PNP chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the successful operation sends a strong message to illegal drug networks operating in the country.
“This operation underscores the PNP’s relentless resolve to eliminate illegal drug activities across the country,” Nartatez said. He emphasized that every police action is aimed at protecting communities from the dangers posed by illegal drugs.
The PNP said the operation falls under its Focused Agenda, particularly the Enhanced Managing Police Operations priority, which focuses on executing efficient, results-oriented actions against high-value targets while keeping communities safe.
Nartatez reiterated that illegal drugs have no place in local communities and assured the public that police operations against drug syndicates will continue without letup.
He added that the PNP’s anti-illegal drug campaign is anchored on the organization’s vision of a “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas,” committed to fast, honest, and effective public service.
