The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) on Monday said it has received no reports of Filipinos harmed in the deadly shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia.
DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said monitoring by Philippine labor and welfare officials in Australia has so far shown no Filipino casualties linked to the incident.
Cacdac said the department continues to coordinate with Philippine officials on the ground to verify information and ensure the safety of overseas Filipinos in the area.
“So far, there have been no reported cases of affected Filipinos in the Bondi Beach shooting,” Cacdac said in an interview.
The DMW chief also expressed sympathy for the victims and the broader Australian community shaken by the attack.
