A total of 20,788 families affected by Typhoon Tino in various towns in Cebu province received emergency cash transfer (ECT) assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), officials reported Monday.
The payouts were conducted from 11 to 13 December, targeting families whose homes sustained slight to severe damage due to the typhoon. The assistance was distributed through multiple payout activities across Cebu province.
On 11 December, DSWD Field Office 7 (Central Visayas) facilitated ECT payouts for 726 affected families at the Panphil B. Frasco Sports Complex in Liloan, Cebu. Each family received P10,125 in cash assistance. On the same day, 58 families in Danao City received aid at the Guinacot Covered Court, while 191 families were granted ECT payouts in the municipality of Compostela.
From 12 to 13 December, a large-scale payout was conducted in Talisay City, covering 17,562 families. Of this number, 2,962 families were recorded to have sustained severe damage to their houses. The payouts were held at several venues, including the Talisay Poblacion Sports Complex, Bulacao Gym, San Roque Gym, and Barangay Biasong.
Also on 13 December, 1,911 families in Mandaue City and 340 severely affected families in Consolacion received emergency cash assistance through the ECT program, in coordination with their respective local government units.
The ECT is a disaster response program that provides immediate and unconditional financial assistance to families affected by calamities. Beneficiaries are identified through a Post-Disaster Needs Assessment, which determines eligibility based on damage and vulnerability, allowing families to address urgent needs while bridging relief and early recovery in areas declared under a State of Calamity.
