BAGUIO CITY — The Baguio City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) recorded more than 35 incidents caused by typhoon “Maymay” as of Thursday evening.

According to the agency’s 6 p.m. situational report released on 6 August, emergency responders attended to 19 cases of fallen or leaning trees, eight incidents of landslides, soil erosion and rockfalls, two flooding incidents, and six cases of damaged utility lines affecting electricity, water and telecommunications services across several barangays.

In Barangay San Luis, seven families, or 45 individuals, were displaced. One family took shelter at the San Luis Evacuation Center, while the six others were temporarily accommodated outside the designated evacuation facility.

Additional property damage was also reported in Barangay Dontogan, where disaster response personnel continue to coordinate with barangay officials to assess the extent of the damage.

In a separate incident, a 52-year-old vendor from Sariling Sikap, San Carlos Heights, Barangay Irisan, died after sustaining severe injuries in a vehicular accident early Thursday morning.

Police said the victim was walking along the roadside when he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old resident of San Carlos Heights, Barangay Irisan.

The accident occurred at around 1:30 a.m. on 6 August in Purok 19, Barangay Irisan. Authorities said they will file a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against the driver.
