Lexus has pulled the cover off the LFA Concept, a full battery electric sports car that signals where the brand wants to take its performance line in the EV era.

The concept appears as the spiritual successor to the original V10 LFA. It keeps the low, dramatic coupe shape but now runs with a fully electric powertrain.

The car forms part of Toyota’s broader Beyond Zero push for carbon neutrality and future mobility.

Development of the LFA Concept sits alongside TOYOTA GAZOO Racing projects such as the GR GT and GR GT3. Engineers treat the three as siblings that share ideas, targets and technology.

The team follows a philosophy that Toyota calls Shikinen Sengu. Veteran car makers pass on know-how to younger engineers and update those skills for a new age. The LFA Concept serves as a rolling classroom for that goal.

Lexus describes the project as a next-generation BEV sports car. The focus rests on three basics. The car must have a very low center of gravity. It must stay light but rigid. It must cut cleanly through the air.

To hit those targets, the concept uses an all-aluminum body frame that aims for high stiffness with reduced weight. Engineers also chase an ideal driving position so the driver feels locked into the car rather than perched on top of it.

The design team talks about a theme called Discover Immersion. The car should pull the driver into the act of driving. The cockpit therefore, takes shape around the driver’s seat. Controls sit close at hand.

Buttons and switches line up in a way that allows operation by feel, without the driver taking eyes off the road. The steering wheel avoids the need to re-grip through sharp turns. Lexus wants the whole cabin to feel like an extension of the driver’s body.

The LFA Concept blends cues from the previous LFA with the packaging freedom of an EV. The nose flows low to the ground. The roof and rear deck stretch into a classic long-nose, short-tail coupe profile.

Screens and controls avoid clutter. Mechanical elements remain visible in places to remind the driver that this is still a serious performance machine despite the quiet EV drivetrain.

The LFA Concept first appeared earlier in the year as the Lexus Sport Concept at Monterey Car Week and at the Japan Mobility Show. Lexus now presents it with a new name and a clearer statement of purpose as the flagship BEV sports car in its future lineup.

The car measures 4,690 millimeters long, 2,040 millimeters wide and 1,195 millimeters high. The wheelbase is 2,725 millimeters. The cabin seats two.

Lexus has not yet detailed performance figures or production plans. The company instead highlights the role of the LFA Concept as a bridge. It connects the analog heritage of cars like the original LFA and Toyota 2000GT with the coming world of electric sports cars.
