Senator Christopher “Bong” Go met with vice governors on 5 December at the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines’ year-end assembly in Pasay City, where he called for stricter oversight on public spending and improved delivery of health services in the provinces.
Go pointed to ongoing investigations into questionable infrastructure projects and said funds wasted on flood control schemes could have built hospitals, classrooms, and evacuation centers.
He urged vice governors to use their oversight powers to ensure proper allocation of resources.
He also highlighted efforts to expand access to healthcare, noting the presence of 167 Malasakit Centers nationwide, which the Department of Health said have assisted more than 17 million Filipinos.
Funding has also been set aside for more than 700 Super Health Centers focused on primary care and early disease detection.
Go said the League’s theme — promoting integrity, transparency, and fiscal stewardship — reflects the need for vigilance in managing public programs and preventing misuse of government funds.
