Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Friday, 14 August, attended the inauguration and turnover of the Super Health Center in Magpet, Cotabato, as he renewed his call to bring essential healthcare services closer to communities, particularly in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas.
The Magpet facility is one of 13 Super Health Centers funded in Cotabato and is intended to strengthen primary healthcare services for residents who may otherwise have to travel long distances to seek medical attention.
Go said Super Health Centers are designed to improve access to basic and intermediate healthcare services and address illnesses before they become more serious.
“What we want is to bring medical services directly to communities. Our fellow Filipinos should no longer have to travel long distances to consult a doctor or obtain basic healthcare services,” Go said.
He thanked the Department of Health, the Magpet local government, healthcare workers, barangay officials and other partners for helping complete and turn over the facility.
Those present during the activity included Magpet Mayor Jay Laurence Gonzaga, Vice Mayor Florenito Gonzaga, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, barangay officials, DoH XII Regional Director Fatima Emban and Officer-in-Charge Municipal Health Officer Dr. Dubhe Raz.
As part of his continuing support for barangay health workers, Go also distributed grocery packs to them during the event.
Universal access
Go has consistently pushed for stronger grassroots healthcare infrastructure to make medical services more accessible, particularly to poor Filipinos and communities in remote areas.
