Department of Finance (DoF) Secretary Frederick Go hinted that a European nation is set to become the latest partner in the Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC).

Go said the government will make a formal announcement next month.

“One more European country is set to become the newest addition to the LEC,” Go said during an economic forum organized by the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in Manila.

The LEC was first announced in April 2024 under the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment, aiming to strengthen connectivity among Subic Bay, Clark, Manila and Batangas through investments in railways, energy, digital infrastructure and manufacturing.

The corridor is intended to create thousands of high-quality jobs, strengthen regional supply chains and position the Philippines as an important link in the Indo-Pacific’s economic architecture.

Go said the LEC currently has 10 partner countries, including the United States and Japan, which were the initiative’s original partners.
