PORAC, Pampanga — The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) has relieved police personnel connected to a P14-million robbery in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Porac, the office announced on 4 December.
PRO3 said the move is a standard procedure while investigators look into the incident. “All concerned units are securing evidence, validating timelines, and reviewing relevant information to establish full accountability,” the statement read.
A Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) has been formed to handle the probe. PRO3 added that authorities are also looking into reports of alleged police involvement in a separate incident in Angeles City, with initial actions already taken to ensure accountability.
“Measures will continue to be pursued to file cases once the investigation is complete. Commanders on the ground are empowered to address misconduct as necessary,” PRO3 said, emphasizing that transparency, integrity, and professionalism remain non-negotiable.
The Porac robbery occurred around 8 p.m. on 25 November, when three men in civilian clothes entered the home of Ma. Debbie Lumanlan Lacson, held her, a companion, and two young children at gunpoint, and fled on motorcycles with the cash.
Authorities say the culprits include four police officers from Angeles City and one from Zambales. Following the incident, some fellow officers reportedly wrote an open letter to DILG Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla, claiming that the investigation was being hampered.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government has since called for a thorough investigation into the case.
